The Career Foundation is currently seeking a Locksmith Apprentice on behalf of one of our employer partners.

Benefits:

• After 3 months probation
• Hourly wage increase after 3 month review (dependent on review)

Responsibilities:

• Supply and install new door and fire exit hardware in commercial applications
• Service existing door and hardware
• Install and service accessibility hardware such as automatic door operators and universal washroom kits
• Driving Service Vehicle
• Keeping service vehicle clean/organized

Requirements:

• Ability to drive service vehicle (full size van) in GTA (training provided)
• Full G Licence required.  Clean driving abstract.
• Able to lift 30 lbs
• Willing to learn and use hand power tools (no experience necessary, willingness to learn)
• Good communication skills
• Able to understand and follow instructions
• Ability to work alone or with others
• Willingness to learn low voltage wiring diagrams and eventually apply knowledge to do service work
• Willingness to learn new skills
• Government sponsored apprenticeship available (apprenticeship will be approx 2 – 3 years dependant on how quickly the apprentice learns)
• Apprentice will be working with the senior/expert Locksmith every day until their skills allow them to work in the field alone.
• Applicant must be able to meet at a designated pick-up location that is agreed upon and will likely change daily
• Strong work ethic required.  Must come to work every day, on time, with a positive attitude.
• Nonsmoking preferred.
• Comfortable working at heights (ie. Ladder)
